Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement say they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Police then located many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state initial examinations show the fluid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities said they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for details.
An important representative stated the vandalism made him stunned and had to be solved promptly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
